Dental implant surface treatment
The Trabecular Metal dental implant manufactured by Zimmer is the only implant with a three-dimensional (3D) structure.
The tantalum coating technique onto the implant sub layer, atom by atom, creates a 3D nanotextured surface reaching a structure and rigidity similar to the one of the human trabecular bone.
Prosthetic abutment connection type
The ZIMMER TSV implants are manufactured in the USA and have a self-blocking connection between the abutment and the implant, i.e., the “FRICTION-FIT” connection, which created a cold welding joint leaving no space that bacteria might penetrate. Moreover, this system does not allow any movement between the abutment and the implant.
Specific features:
- Contains titanium and tantalum. Tantalum has extremely high compatibility and corrosion resistance properties;
- The three dimensional design imitates the bone cell architecture (80% porosity) and the systematic nanotextured topography of the superficial areas;
- Excellent osseoincorporation ensuring a much enhanced contact between the implant and the bone.
